Author Visits

Book your FREE* author visit now!

Ideal for primary pupils, Roar on the Moor & Sky Dancer author visits are both fun and informative - bringing nature to life in your classroom!

What an author visit usually includes:

After a roaringly fun assembly reading Roar on the Moor or Sky Dancers, pupils will create their own decorated Red Deer antlers or Sky Dancing dragonflies to get them in the mood. Back in their classroom, children will use colouring and writing sheets and story prompts to help their creative juices to flow.

After crafting poems, stories or fact files, pupils take to the stage to present their creations to the rest of the class and vote for which should win a place on the Wildwell Hollow Wall of Fame. (See link below.)

It's FREE to schools in and nearby the Peak District.

Rather than ask your school for a fee, I ask you to send out an Adventures of Wildwell Hollow Pre-order Form to parents, inviting them to buy the books. Ideally 30% of the pupils will pre-order the book. After the creative writing class, I will hand out the books to the children who have pre-ordered.

I ask that you send out texts and letters to encourage parents to buy the book.

I will deliver the assembly and class activities. All I ask is for you supply a projector for the assembly and print the pre-supplied worksheets for the children. Oh and some colouring pencils or pens would be fab too!

And that is why, there is no fee.

I will work with you to make sure the times and length of the session fits your school timetable. If we are going to be short of time, pupils could make their decorated antlers or Sky Dancing dragonflies before the visit.

*If your school is outside of, or far from the Peak District, I may need to charge travel to cover my costs.
